Why be the chaser?

So I've been reading lately. More so out of a compulsory need than interest. Isn't that weird? I mean, my mind feels sedentary and just... 'Blah' when I'm not reading at least one book. I suppose in comparison to stealing stuff, or setting them on fire, this compulsion could be a lot worse.

Currently reading: Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?

About my title; it's something I've been wondering about. Socially speaking, the male is generally the 'chaser' and the woman is the 'chased.' This is stupid. I feel that if a boy wants a girl, that he shouldn't always feel obligated to chase her. Why do I have to be the first one to call? Why do I have to be the first one to ask about a date? Why do I have to be the first one to break silence between us?

Now, don't get me wrong- I don't expect a girl to do all the work. I guess I would simply like more of a mutual courtship. This is me putting my chasing-male foot down.

Also, this is more a generalization on womankind than any specific attack.

...

I've also been wondering: why were the 80's the only real decade for fantasy/creature films?

Obviously there are exceptions, but without a doubt, the 'boom' of fantasy/creature films were created in the 80's; not before or after. Maybe it had to do with something that was socially happening to the United States during that decade? Maybe films like The Dark Crystal, The Never Ending Story, The Labyrinth, etc. were some kind of conscious or subconscious response to what was going on during those years.

...

Also, listening to/performing/covering all these love songs makes me all "Aw. I want love to come my way."

This is stupid.

Picture time!

I'm loving the photo.
Oh, and just generally speaking in little things (ie. asking for numbers, breaking the ice, etc. I think it's safe to desire and expect, to a certain extent, mutuality) women just are more responsive when they are being pursued. I guess it's just the way it works. It gets our lovely lady hearts a thump-thumping to know that a man is going out of his way in EVERYthing just to get our attention. Yeah, we're fans of that. (;

i, sir, am in agreement with your take on chasing girls. sometimes it seems like they just wanna see how far we will run, which isnt a great idea cause sometimes they can push us too far. though i kinda think that if it's something real and pure nothing is ever too far... they just need to give us a break from the running sometimes, lol.
